Aanand Krishnan is the CEO and Founder of Tala Security. Prior to Tala, Aanand was most recently a senior director of product management at Symantec where he built Symantec’s first big data security analytics platform and led key strategy projects that helped establish the company’s vision and strategic focus.
Aanand spent several years in investment banking at and mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and Dolby Labs and acted as an adviser to leading security software, semiconductor and clean tech companies. He started his career building high-speed optical networking products at Agilent Technologies. Aanand holds an MBA from Berkeley where he was a recipient of CJ White Fellowship, a Masters in Photonics and Optoelectronics from UC Santa Barbara where he was a QUEST Fellow and a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering with Honors from BITS, Pilani.
Hemant Puri is the VP of Cloud Engineering at Tala. He has 20+ years of experience in the area of networking, security, storage and cloud infrastructure and holds several patents in the field. He has worked in several startups as well as big companies.
Before co-founding Tala, he was a Senior Researcher at Symantec Research, where he worked on a variety of cloud, mobile and network technologies. Prior to Symantec, he held various engineering positions in startups (Neoscale Systems, Ukiah Software) as well as big companies (Cisco, Novell). Hemant holds a B.S. in Computer Science from MIT, India.
Sanjay Sawhney is the co-founder and VP of Engineering of Tala. Sanjay is an experienced, engineering leader, technologist and entrepreneur who has worked for 25+ years in various engineering capacities in both well-established companies as well as startups.
Most recently, he spent 9 years at Symantec managing Symantec Research Labs, one of the key innovation engines of the company. Prior to joining Symantec, he co-founded two companies and led their engineering – Neoscale Systems, a data encryption company, and Ukiah Software, a network security company. Earlier in his career, he has worked in various engineering positions at Novell. Sanjay received a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and an M.S. in Computer Science from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Swapnil is the Tala’s Chief Technology Officer. Swapnil had over 14 years of experience in researching and building security technologies.
Swapnil started his career as a Security Consultant at Ernst & Young, followed by extensive work in the threat research and response teams at Microsoft, Symantec and Dell. Swapnil holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Syracuse University and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
Deepika is Tala’s VP of Products. An experienced product leader and technologist, Deepika is responsible for product strategy and delivery at Tala. Working closely with our customers, she drives product direction and shapes the product roadmap to address their core needs.
Prior to Tala, Deepika was part of Cisco Jasper where she led the launch of IoT smart city applications. Her career in Product Management began at EMC, in the New Product Introduction team, working on key initiatives across the Storage and the Data Protection divisions.
Deepika has held diverse roles in her career: her first job out of school was in the Research and Development of high voltage particle accelerator technology used in cancer therapy machines.
Deepika is a Longhorn, holding undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, in Natural Sciences and the McCombs School of Business.
Pete is a founding partner of Jackson Square Ventures. He was the CIO of Cisco during an incredible growth phase of 100X over 8 years to a total of $20B in annual sales. Before that, he was an IT exec at Apple for 11 years and oversaw the Apple Online Services group. Pete is second to none in understanding the mind of an enterprise software buyer.
Steve Bennett is a board member, angel investor and advisor with a long track record of delivering strong results for customers, partners, employees, and shareholders.
His operating roles included 23 years at GE, 8 years as CEO of Intuit and 20 months as CEO of Symantec. His board experience spans a wide range of public companies including Intuit, Sun Microsystems, Qualcomm, Symantec and Insweb.
Mr. McNeight has had a thirty five year career in enterprise software systems. Currently an Operating Partner with Tech Operators, LLC, he was formerly the President and CEO of GuardedNet, Inc., a security information management (SIM) software company acquired by Micromuse. Prior to joining GuardedNet, he was a top executive of Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS) where he was responsible for building the field operations. During his tenure, ISS grew from approximately $700,000 to $190,000,000 in revenue and had a successful public offering.
Michael is a Presidential Innovation Fellow working with the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx) in Silicon Valley. Michael was formerly the CEO of Symantec and Quantum Corporation. He’s served on the board of several public and private technology companies.
Jim Routh is currently on the Boards of Supply Wisdom, GrammaTech, Acceptto and ZeroNorth, early stage cyber security and risk management software companies. He is the former Board Chair for the Health Information Sharing & Analysis Center (H-ISAC) where he served for five years and former Board member for the Financial Services Information Sharing & Analysis Center (FS ISAC). He has presented to Boards and Board Committees (Technology & Governance, Audit Committees) for many public and private companies as the CISO or CSO, providing cyber security updates and education designed for board members over the past twenty years. Jim brings to the boards a vast business and technology background and is considered a digital and cyber security industry expert and thought leader. He has prepared and delivered several customized education sessions to Board members for the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) based on leading cyber security practices. Jim is currently an advisor for Wiz, Devo, Agari, BigID, Gurucul, Data Theorem, Cloudknox, Cleer Security, Picnic and Virsec. He serves in an advisory capacity and investor for four cyber specific venture funds including: ClearSky, CyberStarts, Security Leadership Capital and Rain Capital.
General Clark serves as Chairman and CEO of Wesley K. Clark & Associates, a strategic consulting firm; Chairman and Founder of Enverra, Inc. a licensed investment bank; Senior Fellow at UCLA’s Burkle Center for International Relations; Advisory Board member of SICPA, Trustee of International Crisis Group; Founding Chair of City Year Little Rock/North Little Rock; Chairman of Energy Security Partners, LLC; as well as numerous corporate boards including BNK Petroleum and Leagold Mining.
Philippe De Ryck helps developers protect companies through better web security. As the founder of Pragmatic Web Security, he travels the world to train developers on web security and security engineering.
His Ph.D. in web security from KU Leuven lies at the basis of his exceptional knowledge of the security landscape. Philippe is a Google Developer Expert and an Auth0 Ambassador/Expert for his community contributions on the security of web applications and APIs.
